Tentative Date Announced for
5th Annual Auto Show

The Grover Beach United Board of Directors has announced that the 5th Annual Grover Beach All Vehicle Auto Show is scheduled tentatively for Saturday, September 1, 2018.

Thank You to Our Sponsors & Volunteers
for a Successful 4th Annual Auto Show

Grover Beach United would like to thank all of our generous sponsors & incredible volunteers for helping to make the 4th Annual Grover Beach All Vehicle Auto Show such a great success!  We especially want to thank our "Ferrari" sponsors this year - Peter & Carol Keith - for their unwavering support of this event & their continued dedication to their community.  This was something of a rebuilding year for the Auto Show, given recent changes at the GBU Board of Directors.  The event was put together in just a few short months, but with the strong leadership of new President Tom Rehder & his wife Amy, along with all the other resourceful folks on the committee - Bob & Victoria Bianchi, Hank Barber, Keith Lowande, Charlie Hail & Bambi Moseley, Valerie Mercado, Vyanna Young-Davis, Anita Shower, Jonathan Troup - we believe everything came together really well.

One of the most significant additions to this year's Auto Show was the 805 RockStock music festival.  Hank Barber (of Three 4 All) organized the festival & booked some very talented local musicians to perform throughout the day.  The Trouvillains kicked things off at 11am, Noach Tangeras took the stage at noon, and Donna Lu & Matthew Kim played an hour-long set at 1pm.  The Caverns headlined the event & rocked the crowd from 2-4pm.  People of all ages were dancing & enjoying themselves and we sincerely thank all the musicians for their contributions to a great day.  We want to thank Hank Barber for all his efforts as well.

Of course, it wouldn't be an Auto Show without the autos, and we had some great vehicles this year.  Some were returning entries from previous years, others were newcomers to the Grover Beach All Vehicle Auto Show.  There were pedal cars, motorcycles, classics, muscle cars, trucks, specialty vehicles, etc.  We enjoyed all the vehicles and we know the attendees loved them, too.  Go to our Gallery Pages for images of all the vehicles & the musical acts, as well as general pictures of the festivities & crowd from throughout the day.

Grover Beach and 5 Cities Fire Authority Thank
Grover Beach United
for Renovation Efforts

At their July 17, 2017, meeting, the Grover Beach City Council, along with the 5 Cities Fire Authority, recognized Grover Beach United with a Certificate of Appreciation for its help with renovations to Fire Station 2 on Rockaway Avenue.  As a local non-profit, GBU was able to partner with the Fire Authority to secure additional funding for the project through Home Depot.  The Grover Beach City Council authorized the improvements to the Fire Station, which included an epoxy floor treatment, painting, rubberized stair tread, window blinds, ceiling fans & base boards. This project has been in the works for some time and we at GBU are happy to see it completed.  We look forward to many other similar projects in the future & we appreciate the opportunity to give back to our community.

At the same City Council meeting, Grover Beach United made a brief presentation of its own, recognizing Linda McClure for her many years of service & dedication to this organization and to the community of Grover Beach & the 5 Cities.  It was Linda who spearheaded things like the Auto Show and GBU's involvement with the Fire Station improvements.  A short video of the presentation is up on our Facebook page.

Grover Beach United Has New President, Looks to Elect New Board

Grover Beach United wishes to thank Linda McClure for her many years of service to GBU and her continuing dedication to the Grover Beach community.  Effective as of June 30, 2017, Linda has resigned as President of GBU.

GBU Vice President Tom Rehder has stepped forward as acting President & Treasurer; his wife Amy now serves as acting Secretary.  Due to health issues & other circumstances, a few officers & board members have had to step down in recent months.  Tom is reaching out to other previous Directors to convene a quarum to elect new officers soon.
